Its a box.. yeh.         Broke, ship it to EVGA.     Astronauts breakfast.. Ah, no cool graphics…..

GTX560Ti DS SC by EVGA

Coooooool, not only our first small kit review but it looks like we sold one of the first cards in Britain, go us. Our very own “Living” popped in “ta other day” and wanted a shiny new graphics card. Well we settled on an nVIDIA GTX560, of some description. Released Jan/Feb 2011 this card is pitched at AMD’s excellent HD6850/6870 series cards offering slightly better performance on the benchmarks. However what top and tails this card is some very good over clocking room that makes it nibble the heals of the Radeon 6950/6970 when pushed… “BUT!!”. Tests we have seen show the Power Draw is heavier than the Radeon, 331Watts peak on the Ti version alone.

So as you can probably guess from the heading of this post we went for the EVGA GTX560Ti DS SC. The card is super clocked giving it some very respectable out of the box ratings.

  • Engine Clock of 900Mhz
  • Memory Clock of 4212Mhz

The card itself comes complete with 2 x big fans but does not support exhaust, so for those who are not aware you need some good cooling in your PC’s. The card supports a single SLI so your only going to run a max of 2 cards, I think this is common to the 560 series any comments about that, post em.

Ok, a big issue with some will be that this is in fact a reference card, ie its a standard circuit board designed by whoever and distributed to the manufacturers for them to add the components. EVGA, do have a bit of a reputation for using decent bits so don’t expect this thing to be just a “bog standard” card.

As expected the Stream Processor Units are 384, RAMDACs is 400Mhz and a 256-bit bus. Secondly, we’re getting a little interested in EVGA. Pretty big in the States, the Yanks are nudging the British market and that is not really a bad thing. From what we have seen, build quality is very good, packaging is nice, they have excellent forum support and as already mentioned some nice numbers on the cards performance… A few words on warrenty support, register the card and you get 10 years not bad when they are covering a premium overlocked card like this.. And, my mate in the industry has said if you do get a return, its handled very quickly and I mean very quickly.

Only time will tell if EVGA can muscle in on the likes of ASUS, BFG, Leadtek and MSI but keep an eye on these guys. As for “Livings” new graphics card we will have a full review once he has hammered it for a week or so.

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to fellow Fragit members, hope you all enjoy yourselves over the Christmas and that Santa Brings you what you wanted.
And that you have a great New Year.
:D
