Here at the games cafe’ we run a wide variety of games, ranging from RTS, MMPORG to Shoot Em Up Games. We currently have the following games available to play on all of our machines, these are:
FarCry - a cafe’ favourite, especially the multi player side
“The game’s story follows an ex-Special Forces operator, Jack Carver, who is stranded on a mysterious archipelago in Micronesia. He is searching for a female journalist he was escorting after she went missing when their boat was destroyed by mercenaries. The game includes subtle thematic elements relating to the dangers of genetic engineering and the genocide of local islanders as can be seen by the deformed creatures created by Krieger. Also, a mysterious backdrop relating to dinosaurs is revealed via in-game radios that will sometimes carry programs that discuss the history of dinosaurs and the possibility that some might still be alive. This is further developed by appearance of lizard-like animals that reside in the jungles on the island”

Team Fortress 2 - what is becoming a firm favourite of the cafe’, with its highly addictive fast paced class multi player action.

“Team Fortress2 (TF2) is the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map. This year’s most anticipated online action game, TF2 delivers new game types, a signature art style powered by Valve’s next generation animation technology, persistent player statistics, and more.
Unlike other “class-based” games that offer a variety of combat classes only, Team Fortress 2 packs a wild variety of classes which provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills”

Counter-Strike - an old favourite which will take alot of beating.
Counter-Strike (commonly abbreviated to CS) is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life modification by Minh “Gooseman” Le and Jess “Cliffe” Cliffe. Counter-Strike pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating the opposing force.

C&C Generals - an newer version to the old favourite formula of build your base and then go kill your neighbour.
“Generals takes place in the near future. Players are given a choice of three factions to play rather than the two in the early parts of the Tiberium and Red Alert series. In Generals, the United States and China are the world’s two superpowers, and are the targets of the Global Liberation Army, a large, well-organized Middle Eastern terrorist organization with the arsenal/hardware of an irregular military force such as the Taliban accompanied by the fanaticism of al-Qaeda. The United States and China are depicted as allies in the series, and frequently co-operate with each other throughout the storyline against the Global Liberation Army, which is depicted as an omnipresent, border-less organization with unclear goals beyond opposition to and expulsion of both China and the United States. The three factions are thus engaged in a war similar to that of the real-life War on Terror.”

Call of Duty - ass kicking world war two action
“Call of Duty is almost identical in theme and game play to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and like the latter includes various single player campaigns and missions. However, unlike Medal of Honour, the war is seen not just from the viewpoint of an American soldier but also from the viewpoint of British and Soviet soldiers.
The game is somewhat unusual in that throughout the single-player mode, the player is joined by computer-controlled allies who range in quantity from two infantrymen(in some of the British missions) to an entire regiment of tanks (in the Soviet missions).”

Warcraft 3 - a firm favourite at the cafe with the mix of rpg and rts elements
“It has been nearly fifteen years since the war between the orcs and humans ended. An uneasy peace settled over the land while, for years, the drums of war were silent. Yet the kingdoms of men grew complacent in their victory - and slowly, the defeated orcish clans regrouped under the banner of a new visionary leader.
Now a darker shadow has fallen over the world, threatening to extinguish all life - all hope. The drums of war play upon the winds once again - rising urgently towards the inevitable hour when the skies will rain fire - and the world will tremble before the coming of the Burning Legion.
The Day of Judgement has come… ”

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, sometimes shortened to Operation Flashpoint, and abbreviated OFP, is a tactical shooter and battlefield simulator video game developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio and published by Codemasters. Set on a group of fictitious islands in 1985, Operation Flashpoint puts the player on one of three sides in a hypothetical conflict between NATO and Soviet forces. The Resistance is the third playable faction. Two expansion packs were released; Gold Upgrade, which included Red Hammer, a campaign from the Soviet perspective, and Resistance, which introduced various new features and improved graphics and sound effects. Operation Flashpoint was praised for its attention to realistic combat.
